'26 MALTS' - TOASTING SCOTLAND'S FINEST

Twenty-six of the finest writers from Scotland and the UK have teamed up with 26 of the finest designers to create unique labels and identities for 26 of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society's finest individual single cask malt whiskies.

The '26 Malts' project is the brainchild of Stuart Delves, co-founder of Henzteeth, the Edinburgh-based copywriting firm, and a member of 26, a group of writers and designers who champion the use of creative language in business. All 26 labels will be exhibited at the Society's venue in Edinburgh's Queen Street in August.

The project has been enthusiastically received by the creative community both north and south of the border as writers from 26 have been paired with top designers. Each pairing has been charged with designing a label for one of 26 of the Society's single cask, cask strength malt whiskies which will be available to members later this year.

Charlotte Halliday, the Society's marketing manager, said: "Malt whisky has long been associated with good language and literature and this is a tremendous opportunity to develop some truly creative work. As part of the creative brief each '26 Malts' pairing has attended a nosing and tasting session at the Society so they're immersed in the whisky culture which is sure to get their creative juices flowing.

"The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has always offered its members much more than splendid venues and the finest malt whiskies. It offers good company and great conversation and is as much about the enjoyment of style and language as it is about the enjoyment of malt whisky.
