Brora

Highland Northern founded 1819 - first Society bottling in 1989

This distillery, built by the Duke of Sutherland to make use of his coal and surplus tenants, operated under a different name until distillery no. 26 was built in 1968 and then it was called 26 II. This caused so much confusion that it was renamed after its Location until 1983, when it was closed. Its smoky malt was called The Lagavulin of the North.
