A tapestry of tropical tastes
Cask No. 125.36
The nose wove together different strands; a warp of fruit (grapefruit, pineapple, mandarin, cherry, bubble-gum) and a weft of vanilla, coffee, chocolate, marzipan and nutty fudge – an intriguing fabric stretched on an oak loom. The reduced nose, turning more tropical, transported us to various exotic market locations (Funchal, Trinidad, Port of Leith?). The unreduced palate, pleasantly fizzy, reminded one panellist of passion-fruit mojito; others got fudge, coffee, iced biscuits and raspberry jam. The rum impressions increased with water; pineapple, coconut and lime – “Sunny, tropical and nice”. The distillery recently increased the number of stills, but not apparently, the “sixteen men”.

If you like your whisky full of fruit notes even before reducing, you need to be getting this cask before its gone! This is the second bottling from this distilliary that has the WOW factor for me (the first was their New Charred Oak Cask - 125.21 - I think!)
