18.29 Welcoming, mouth-filling and moreish
Cask No. 18.29
The nose, smooth and welcoming, had toffee, honey and brandy snaps, vanilla rum and American cream soda; the Whisky-bard found barbershop leather but the Moffat-man was between a barn and a coal-cellar. The unreduced palate was mouth-filling and succulent, with rich treacle toffee, sweet vanilla and lush green grass; ginger and cardamom spice sparked up the finish. The reduced nose had lemon bonbons, Parma violets, hay and balsamic. On the palate, caramel and spice mingled with dry woody tannins to create a surprisingly refreshing and very moreish dram. The distillery, just outside Buckie, was built to replace one called Tochineal.
