7.72 Buxom and comforting
Cask No. 7.72
The nose held the sweetness of vanilla, cocoa pops, ice wine and baked lemon cheesecake – but scented wood, newspaper, playdo and bung cloths stretched it out to decent complexity. The palate was a delicious combination of sweetness, perfume and gentle bitterness, reminiscent of cherry brandy, sambuca, orange oil, uncooked buttery pastry and expensive chamois leather. The reduced nose had coiled springs of citrus (orange, lemonade, candied lime) fruity toffee and Norwegian Gjetost. The palate now turned fabulously fresh but buxom and reassuring with comforting perfume, caressing spices and hints of menthol in the after-taste. The distillery, near Fogwatt, belongs to Chivas.
