Islay founded 1779 - first bottled by the Society 1983

The earliest legal distillery in Islay stands in the village of the same name, overlooking Loch Indaal and below the round church (built like this so the devil couldn't hide in the corner). The distillery helped set up a swimming pool in the village, which it heats with waste heat from the stills. Its malt has won numerous prizes at the International Wines and Spirits Awards.
