Kindred Surprise

Friday 07 November 2008

The Society is uncompromising in its pursuit of the finest single cask, single malt whisky and, on 2 December, 28 Queen Street in Edinburgh will play host to two people who are similarly passionate about their produce – Nadia Ellingham of Ananda Chocolates and Michael Wilson of Artisan Roast.

These two Edinburgh-based companies are true kindred spirits when it comes to creating exceptional products and, on the night, members will have the chance to taste their goods. The Society will be providing a selection of whiskies to match their creations and supper will also be served.

Nadia, who supplies bespoke handmade chocolates to various exclusive venues in Edinburgh, sees a lot of crossover between what the Society does and her chocolate business. “The chocolate that we use is single estate, single origin – we avoid blends so that we produce a very different vintage each time. When we’re making chocolate, we’re looking for real character and idiosyncratic flavours rather than consistency. People might buy a Mars Bar because they know what to expect, but we want to be different.”
Nadia’s comments are music to our ears – why not go along and see for yourself how well her products fit with our whisky.
