Unfiltered Toast of the Industry
Tuesday 10 March 2009
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s glossy new members’ magazine, Unfiltered, was toasted by leading members of the communications industry as it was recognised for ‘best redesign’ at the Scottish Corporate Communications Awards in Edinburgh.Unfiltered was acknowledged by the British Association of Communicators in Business (CiB) for its cool, luxurious and humorous design, which the judges felt was an enlightened treatment of a once very traditionally viewed subject matter.
The February awards ceremony took place in Prestonfield Hotel to celebrate the work of in-house, freelance and agency staff involved in internal communications across Scotland.
Unfiltered provides the Society’s 26,000 members worldwide with an entertaining insight into the world of whisky, with recommendations on the finest drams and curious stories of all things malt and caught the eye of the prestigious judging panel. One judge said: “Made me want to join the Society and I’m not even keen on the stuff”.
Paul Miles, managing director of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society said: “We are thrilled that Unfiltered has been recognised for its redesign. It is one of the many ways in which we engage with our members, and represents the quality that the Society has to offer malt whisky lovers.”
Roy Carter, Chairman, CiB Scotland said: “The CiB Scotland Corporate Communications Awards recognise best practice communication. This year we had a record number of entries, with a very high standard, so winning was tougher than ever. Congratulations to the winners – they all have communications of which to be proud.”
