Whisky Award News Society Gospel
The Society has earned two awards in the latest edition of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.77.17 Summertime and Vanilla is Easy won Scotch Single Malt 10 Years or Under (Single cask) and 116.14 Lost in Translation won Japanese Whisky of the Year. From the Whisky Bible 2010 onwards, Jim will be awarding ‘Liquid Gold Awards’ to any whisky that scores 94 points or more. The Society currently has just a dozen whiskies qualifying for the Bible’s Liquid Gold Award. Jim says: “Boasting such a high number of top scorers endorses the feeling that the Society offers some of the most extraordinary whisky around.”
In other award news, five Society bottles collected prizes at the recent Whisky Magazine Independent Bottlers’ Challenge awards. 121.28 Banderas in a Tuxedo won gold in the 12 years and under island (non Islay) category, while 4.131 An Artist’s Retreat also won gold in the 19+ years old island (non Islay) category. 27.72 Harbour-side Harmonies , 125.18 A Chocolate Valentine and 93.35 Men Wrestling on a Pebble Beach also picked up awards.
Meanwhile, the Society’s bottle and carton have been shortlisted for awards at this year’s UK Packaging Awards 2009. The winners will be announced in November so keep an eye on our UK website for news. In the meantime, always dress to impress with the Society's Gift Carton
