Celebrate this Burns Night in Society-style

Thursday 07 January 2010

There will be a variety of Burns nights taking place across our venues in January.

On 25 January, The Vaults will host a traditional Burns’ night with dramatic recitals and performances from The Edinburgh Theatre Arts group. Guests will enjoy a fabulous three-course Burns supper and a few drams of course. Dress is black tie.

Traditional Burns Night

Our Members’ Rooms in London will mark Burns night with something a little different. The evening’s special guest will be Ian Mcilwain, author of Bottled History, a beautifully presented coffee-table tome full of glorious photos of old distillery equipment and warehouses. Ian will entertain members with tales from the five years he spent putting together his book. Haggis, neeps and tatties will be served alongside five drams. Photos from Ian’s book will also be on display at the venue.

London tastings

On 29 January, our venues at Queen Street and The Vaults in Edinburgh will host a Girls and Boys Burns’ night respectively.
Queen Street will be hosting its famous Girls Burns event with an all-female entertainment line-up, plus awelcome drink, canapés and a
three-course dinner.

Girls' Burns

At The Vaults, entertainer Jock Ferguson will celebrate some of the bard’s lesser-known poems, while there will be drinks and canapés
and a three-course dinner.

Boys' Burns

Finally, the Society will host a Burns weekend at Lennoxlove House near Edinburgh from 22-24 January. Guests can
indulge with Burns receptions and dinners, and enjoy an overnight stay in this 5-star historic house.
